Latex Wear

What do you think of when you think of latex? Black PVC pants? Catwoman bodysuits? Middle-aged fetish freaks?
Well, latex is getting a whole new image, thanks to pop stars like Beyoncé, Gwen Stefani, and Eve – who have all worn latex in their music videos – and costume designers for films like “Underworld,” “Batman Returns,” and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”
Latex is hip, and latex wear is becoming increasingly visible at the trendiest clubs and night spots. Just check out the range of latex garments we offer in our online store.
Although most of us picture latex as black, it’s actually translucent and can be dyed a range of colors. For example, latex couture label Libidex produces latex garments in jade green, bubblegum pink, metallic platinum, and a host of other shades. Syren, another couture label, produces garments in transparent purple, semi transparent, scarlet red and military green, among others.
Eco-warriors don’t have to stress about having a petroleum product next to their skin, either. Latex is a completely natural fabric with origins in the sap of Amazonian rubber trees, Hevea brasiliensis.
But don’t worry! Rain forests aren’t being chopped down to provide us with latex fetishwear. Most latex is now sourced from plantations in Southeast Asia.
Because latex can be so thick, seams are often glued rather than stitched. The real danger in wearing latex garments is ripping them. That’s why it’s important to be careful when putting on skintight latex garments. Pull them on gently, and avoid using your fingernails.
One of the biggest challenges in wearing latex is getting the garment on in the first place! ProLatex suggests that you lube the inside of the garment with silicone or any rubber care emulsion before trying to put it on. Libidex suggests rubbing the inside of the garment and your body with talcum or baby powder. If you don’t have any product available, you can try getting dressed in the shower, as water makes the rubber slide more easily over your skin. Similarly, when you take the garment off, you might want to try doing so in the shower.
Latex also needs to be cleaned regularly after each use, because sweat and body oils can weaken the fabric. Wash with mild, soapy water and dry with a towel or hang dry in a shady place. Avoid leaving your latex clothing out in the sun, as heat can severely damage the garment. If you find that a garment sticks to itself, powder it with talcum or baby powder as part of your cleaning regime.
Latex can also stain easily, so avoid leaving light-colored latex in contact with dark-colored latex, and never let light-colored latex come into contact with anything copper, including jewelry or money.
Latex can be a fun way to jazz up an outfit or play naughty with your partner, so why not check out our range of latex skirts, bodices, bras, panties, and other garments at our online store? Find out what the fuss is all about!
