One of the more … unusual, dare we say, porn niches out there is pregnant porn. The shape of a woman’s body changes drastically during pregnancy, and some guys find this transformation a massive turn-on.

Even one of the world’s most beautiful women, Angelina Jolie, has extolled the benefits of pregnant sex, saying:

“[Pregnancy] is great for the sex life. It just makes you a lot more creative. So you have fun, and as a woman you're just so round and full.”

So we concede that pregnancy might be great for the sex life, but what about childbirth?

Video cameras have been welcomed in delivery rooms for many years, as a way for a family to document this first, most important event in their child’s life.

But no one ever considered a childbirth video pornographic … until Steve Crow came along.

Back in 2002, New Zealand porn king Steve Crow attempted to film a porn star giving birth for his film “Ripe.” The birth scene was intended as the climax to the film, which documented the star’s sex life during pregnancy.

However, the court blocked him from showing any images of the child, and, due to complications with the birth, Crow ended up using 3-D animation to finish off the film.

The ethical considerations surrounding the sexualization of childbirth have not just kept Crow from making his film. They’ve also kept doctors from publicizing one of the least-known facts about childbirth:

Orgasm.

According to Examiner.com, roughly 30% of women experience orgasms or sensual pleasure during childbirth.

Surprised? We were, too.

“Orgasmic birth” is creating a paradigm shift in how women view the process of giving birth.

A 2009 documentary of the same name has made a huge splash on the international film festival circuit. Its premise is that childbirth has become medicalized, relying more on technology than a woman’s own innate wisdom. As women are allowed to reclaim their birth experience, they re-discover the sensual possibilities of their bodies during this magical time.

New World Sex Educator Jaiya believes that masturbating during birth can help relieve pain as effectively as more traditional methods, as well as prevent perineal ripping. She explains the possibilities of orgasmic birthing in this short video.
