Why You Should Care that Barack Obama Won the US Election
International News

American GirlWho cares about American politics?  American presidents have nothing to do with the porn you watch in New Zealand … or do they?

To clarify, we're not talking about Hustler’s “Obama is Nailin’ Palin.” This film, a follow-up to their runaway success, “Who’s Nailin’ Paylin,” features Guy DiSilva as Obama, who “rescues” Vice Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin. Check out the trailer on Hustler World.

Seriously, what we're referring to is politics: the kind of politics that aims to restrict the pornography you can access on your computer as a result of misguided attempts to “protect the children.”

It only takes one glance at the porn DVDs on your shelf and your favorite online porn portals to see that the vast majority of porn is produced in America. Sadly, the adult entertainment industry there is not immune to shifts in the political climate.

Porn is an easy target for a president taking the moral high ground.  If an American president with conservative values, like ex-President George W. Bush, is elected, the adult entertainment industry comes under a magnifying glass, with obscenity prosecutions, investigations, and new anti-porn laws intended to crack down on an industry that conservatives consider a threat to the moral fiber of America.  Simply put, a conservative leadership is bad for porn.

Liberal leadership, on the other hand, tends to consider itself a protector of free speech, which includes sexual expression.

Attorney and legal columnist Gregory A. Piccionelli, writing for XBiz.com, is “elated” that Barack Obama has become the 44th president of the United States.  He writes, “The adult entertainment industry has great reason to celebrate this holiday season and the reason why can be summed up in three words: President Barack Obama.”

Piccionelli hopes that the oppressive restrictions laid on the adult industry will be eased under Obama’s leadership and sees good reason to expect that obscenity prosecutions will cease for the duration of Obama’s term.

If Piccionelli’s projections are correct, we should expect a renaissance in the American adult entertainment industry. Unhampered by red tape and the fear of prosecution, adult producers, photographers and directors will be able to go after the stories they really want.
