The laser beam has been around in medical science for sometime now but never before has it been used to grow boobs. Yip, Boobs! Apparently it encourages the production of oestrogen, which is the hormone that determines the size, shape, and fullness of natural breast tissue. So if you were a bit light on oestrogen in puberty chances are you’re a bit light in the boob department also.

So here's the 21st century, no surgery required, laser boob job. But don’t rush to the cupboard and drag out your ‘storm trooper’ laser and start firing it round wildly, the process is a little more complicated than that, and yes, a bit more expensive too. So how do they do it without storm trooper suits and what’s actually happening?

During a 30-minute session, a gun-like hand piece is maneuvered over the chest, emitting a micro-beam wavelength that activates the nerves within the breasts. This process increases blood pressure in the capillaries, promotes microcirculation, thickens the connective tissue and encourages the breast cells to enlarge. It also tightens the collagen fibres causing the skin to lift.

Results are not immediate: you'll need two treatments per month for three months before you see a difference but there’s no downtime or significant recovery period just a bit of tingling as the nerves are reactivated and firmness towards the end of the treatment period indicating the development of new tissue.

Before you get too excited this procedure is not suitable for everyone. If you want more than a 2 cup size increase you probably need to head for the guy with the scalpel and the silicone. The ideal candidate for this procedure is a woman with size A to C boobs who wants to be more voluptuous or the one missing volume after dramatic weight-loss, pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Cosmetic surgeons are skeptical about this but then when you think of their bottom-line what else would you expect them to say.

Tara Kelly, 23yr old beauty therapist from London had the treatment in Australia and is thrilled…'I lost weight and my breasts shrank by two sizes. My bust looked droopy and the firmness had gone. After four laser enhancement sessions, my breasts were like new. They look fuller at the top, taut all over, and my stretch marks have nearly gone.'

So for those of you yearning for a subtly enhanced bust, or hoping to see your boobs return to their youthful best without painful surgery, this treatment may be worth checking out. May the force be with you!
