When porn stars pass their sell-by date, they have one of two choices: give up the industry entirely, or try something different, like directing or producing.

Devinn Lane chose the latter.

This busty brunette beauty was Penthouse Pet of the Month ten years ago, but as she hit her mid-thirties, she knew it was time for her to move on.

Despite winning a 2003 AVN Award for her role in Breathless and becoming known for her lesbian roles, contracts were drying up. The companies that she’d worked with over the years, like Digital Playground and Vivid, had moved on to newer, younger girls.

With a daughter to support and a MILF image, her career was slipping away. If she was going to hang on to everything she’d built up over the years as an adult performer, she was going to have to change gears. And change she did, slipping from in front of the camera to behind it.

Her ability to direct has never been in doubt. Although she’s appeared in 82 films, she’s directed a third as many, including her very own The Devinn Lane Show.

Such was the success of the first Road Trixxx that Devinn Lane went on to film two sequels.

While Devinn Lane was in the midst of filming the Road Trixxx series, she made time to get her clothes off for Michael Zen in Tuff Chick. She plays a girl who gets in with the wrong crowd and is framed for a crime she doesn’t commit. She does her time in prison, then gets out wanting revenge. The plot, though unbelievable in some places, helps raise this movie from average porn territory, and it gets 3 stars out of 5 in The Wanted List.
